Welcome to my Poetry & Painting Workshop!

Welcome! Join me for a Poetry and Painting workshop in Brooklyn or as a Traveling Studio! A unique teambuilding event that has exploration, play, and introspection. You can share as little or as much as you want.

The overall goal is to have fun and learn something about yourself! If you choose to be in Brooklyn the location will be shared with you once you register the class and the traveling studio option can be in your venue of choice! Either way everything will be set up for you, I will bring all materials, such as, easels, aprons, paint kits, etc.

Here is an outline of what to expect:

Introduction

• Welcome to the workshop!

• A brief introduction of how this class came to be and an overview of the workshop objectives

• Icebreaker activity - everyone will introduce themselves and share their favorite artist

Inspiration & Resources

• I will provide a presentation with many poetry examples and paintings

• There will be magazines, poetry books, and art books that you can draw inspiration from

• How Art Therapy ties into art and healing

Poetry Section

• This will be our warm-up before painting!

• Find a partner for the first exercise of the workshop! It can be someone you know well or someone you met for the first time

• A prompt will be presented at the beginning of the class

• You will make a poem with your partner, one line each until you reach 10-12 lines

• Poems and paintings can be shared at the end, it is up to you to decide

Painting Section

• Once the poem is done, we will discuss color theory and its emotional impact

• There will also be a discussion before we start to paint

• You may use your poem as inspiration by using colors that evoke the mood and tone of your poem

• Not limited to anything, your painting can be abstract, realistic, a cartoon, anything!

• Painting portion for a little over an hour

Closing

• Reflection on the creative process and how both your pieces connected

• Wrap discussion and everyone can show their art if they want to
