Quitting my job changed my life.

If you have found your way to this blog, welcome! This is a place to heal, make art, make mistakes, and find who we are.

About two months ago, I decided to quit my (very comfortable) full-time job to be a freelancer and artist in New York City and pursue the dream of opening my own Art Studio, Romy Weidner Studios.

A studio where you can heal through expressive art, explore different art mediums and buy art!

I was working with the amazing Jessica Walsh at her Creative Agency &Walsh. My role in the agency was as her Studio Administrator & Personal Assistant. It was a job I thought I would never leave, but there was a little voice that kept getting louder and bugging me to trust in myself and take a leap. It’s been a magical two months full of new experiences, traveling around the United States filming dance competitions, babysitting, being a production assistant, making photographs, working on my first poetry book, and many other jobs that come my way.

I can’t explain how something as terrifying as quitting has been able to make me this happy.

This blog has a purpose and no purpose at all. It’s to connect with you, show you how I navigate the freelance world in New York City and be able to record the exciting new stories that have been happening to me. Up until now, I didn’t feel as if I was living the stories worthy of being told, there was always something missing. Finding my purpose is this year’s priority and I’ll be so happy if you follow along on my journey. This will also be a place where I openly share my art and how it has helped me heal in the past few years.

By no means I’m encouraging you to quit your job, but I just wanted to emphasize that it has changed my life for the better.

I’m so happy you’re here!

Love always,

Romy
